Possible Protest Demonstrations at Lyndon Johnson Speech on July 23, 1967 Lyndon Baines Johnson (1908-1973), 36th President of the United States, was scheduled to speak in Los Angeles on July 23, 1967. Anti-war groups, including the Los Angeles Peace Action Council and the Civil Disobedience Council, planned to protest U.S. involvement in Vietnam at the speech. This release covers the FBI investigation of these groups and whether they posed a threat to the president during the weeks leading up to the speech.
