Cartha DeLoach
Cartha Dekle “Deke” DeLoach (1920 to 2013) was a long-serving FBI employee, agent, and executive between 1942 and 1970. At his retirement, he held the position of deputy associate director, the third-ranking official in the FBI at the time. This release consists of four volumes of material from his personnel file ranging from 1942 to 1959.

Courtney Allen Evans
Courtney Allen Evans (1914-2010) was an FBI agent from 1940 to 1964. In 1960, he became assistant director in charge of the Special Investigative Division. He served for a time as the FBI liaison to Attorney General Robert F. Kennedy. This release consists of Evan’s personnel file and a threat file that ranges from 1940 to 1966.

Willard Skousen
Willard Cleon Skousen (1913-2006) was an author and conservative political theorist. He joined the FBI as a clerk in 1935 and became a special agent in 1940. In 1951, he voluntarily resigned from the Bureau. This release consists of Skousen’s FBI personnel file and public source material and correspondence concerning him.

Mark Felt
William Mark Felt (1913-2008), commonly known as Mark Felt, joined the FBI in 1940 as a special agent. He rose through the ranks in several Bureau field offices, including Seattle, New Orleans, and Kansas City, and later headed the Inspection Division at FBI Headquarters in Washington, D.C. He retired in 1973 as acting associate director, the number two position in the FBI at the time. Felt was deeply involved in many FBI controversies and later identified himself as “Deep Throat,” a source for Bob Woodward and Carl Bernstein’s coverage of the Watergate scandal in The Washington Post. This release consists of Mark Felt’s FBI personnel file (67E-HQ-276576), which covers the years 1941-1978, and a 1956 investigation into an extortion threat made against Felt (9-33482).
