Possible Protest Demonstrations at Lyndon Johnson Speech on July 23, 1967 Lyndon Baines Johnson (1908-1973), 36th President of the United States, was scheduled to speak in Los Angeles on July 23, 1967. Anti-war groups, including the Los Angeles Peace Action Council and the Civil Disobedience Council, planned to protest U.S. involvement in Vietnam at the speech.
